Despite limited space in the house because of the kitchen remodel, and limited time, because they started so late, both Daniel and Elizabeth were able to have projects in for this year’s Frederiksen Elementary Science Fair. Elizabeth decided to see if carnations would turn different colors if put in colored food dye and jello, and Daniel explored how balloon rockets traveled along a different types of string. As always they had fun doing the experiments but were not all that excited about documenting them on the presentation boards. Sandy helped lots while I was either at work or painting the bathroom. (Since we changed the floor in the kitchen, and the same floor was in the bathroom, we decided to change that too, which resulted in a whole bathroom remodel.) Daniel and Elizabeth came home from this year’s science fair talking about what they would do for the next one.
Elizabeth and I went to her Girl Scout Daisy father daughter dance at her school It was a 50′s sock hop thing and most of the girls, including Elizabeth wore poodle skirts. Sandy made Liz’s and it was the best looking one there. Elizabeth spent most of the time hanging out with her friends and I spent the time hanging out with her friends’ dads. There were snacks and of course lots of dancing. Elizabeth is a crazy dancer and would have worn me out except luckily, (for me, not her) her allergies were acting up and she had to rest a lot in order to get her breath. Still it was a great time and I’m glad she invited me.
For Mother’s Day, the kids got up really early. Too early. So after telling them to go back to bed more than once, we went downstairs and Sandy got to open cards and presents and get some Mother’s Day flowers. The flowers were my idea but not a good one because both Sandy and Elizabeth have been having allergy attacks and the pollen had them sneezing immediately. After the gifts we all got dressed and went to the Marriott in San Ramon for brunch. Everyone had way too much to eat but had lots of fun. Happy Mother’s Day!!!
The cabinets were installed this week and it was amazing to watch them work. Even more so because we weren’t doing it. We painted the walls green and called in an electrician and a plumber to fix things that I couldn’t. Its an old house with some odd wiring and we had a pipe fitting burst when I tried to shut off the water. But all that is fixed and now we have really nice, real wood cabinets. We can’t use them until the counter tops come and that won’t be for a while yet, but it’s sure great to see the progress being made.
